The Plant Manager is responsible for directing and managing all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities.

  • Direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving.
  • Coordinate plant activities through the planning with Project Managers and Engineering to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner, as well as within the specified quality standards of the customer and QCFC.
    • Regular review of production, hours and efficiencies to meet or reduce hours.
  • Responsible for meeting production goals, as well as developing strategies to increase production at minimal costs.
    • Review jobs and estimate hours needed to run through shop.
    • Implement alternate production methods to ensure jobs are completed timely based on comparison of plan hours and estimated hours; yet yield a high quality product.
    • Provide COO and CEO a “projection plan” for each job that enters the shop.
    • “Fast-track” jobs that are falling behind production standards.
  • Establish (and maintain) strong communication between the California and Mexico locations (i.e. Engineering, Cut Billing, Purchasing, Project Management, Field Superintendents, Production, Human Resources, etc.).
  • Build and maintain a cohesive work culture that reflects the core culture of Glenn Rieder/QCFC.
    • Visible on shop floor 90% of each day.
    • Build rapport and earn trust/confidence of shop staff.
    • Mentor and provide continual training on processes, and alternate techniques/solutions.
    • Hold shop staff accountable for quality and meeting/exceeding deadlines.
    • Maintain/enhance worker safety.
    • Work with HR to maintain desirable work environment.
  • Provide input into the annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
  • Manage capital asset maintenance.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
    • Implement and facilitate training on methodologies to improve construction processes as related to cost efficiencies.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Ensure that the plant is compliant and operates within all OSHA guidelines. This includes documenting that all employees have timely and successfully completed safety training.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish QCFC’s goals and objectives.
  • Oversee and incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among all personnel.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Track finish sample requests to ensure that material samples are completed by the request date.
  • Oversee loading of shipments to ensure that millwork is properly labeled, counted and recorded.
  • Oversee hardware, sheet good and lumber inventories to ensure accurate recording and tracking of inventory items.
  • Facilitate weekly shop floor/production meetings and report on the progress of work orders.
  • Ability to manage and overcome cultural and personality differences among staff.
  • Responsible for building security.
  • Ensure compliance with all QCFC policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure annual open enrollment, performance appraisals, etc. are completed timely.
  • Effectively promote the QCFC culture and monitor employee morale.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Associates degree in related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years previous experience in a management role; experience within the custom cabinet making industry a plus.
  • Extensive understanding of custom millwork/cabinetry structure.
  • Experienced as a Journeyman Cabinet Maker.
  • Bi-lingual/Spanish required.
  • Previous experience overseeing 20+ employees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in problem solving/analysis.
  • Superior conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and implement alternate solutions to challenges.
