The objective of this position is to generate material take-offs and run tickets and bills of materials based upon millwork shop drawings while directly communicating with Drafters for constructability and drawing errors, Material Manager scheduling, Shop to release orders and constructability, Purchasing to order materials and Project Coordinator for finishes and details.

  • Accountable for the completeness and accuracy of material take-offs, run tickets, and bills of materials.
  • Read through shop drawings released for fabrication for errors and omissions & return to drafter for correction as required.
  • Identify potential constructability issues.
  • Identify and list shippable assemblies.
  • Identify what parts are shipping from the Milwaukee facility and generate a complete ship-ticket noting them.
  • Generate an accurate and complete list of part sizes required.
  • List hardware required.
  • Note specifics details of each part, see manual.
  • Optimize sheet goods.
  • Identify and note what part will be cut on the CNC.
  • Generate sheet lay-ups and send to the saw.
  • Review all materials take-off and make certain sufficient quantities have been ordered.
  • Responsible for giving input to Director of Drafting and Estimating department regarding value engineering.
  • Responsible for obtaining needed schedules (Hardware, kitchen and bar equipment, etc.)
  • Responsible for maintaining integrity of shop drawings files.
  • Cross-trained in ability to draft with AutoCAD.
  • Produce detailed material take-offs as required.
  • Create custom cut-to-size veneer panel lists.
  • Update the material take-off as required and inform materials personnel and purchasing.
  • Direct purchasing to order any materials that have not to date.
  • Distribute paperwork to the shop floor – see manual.
  • Save pdf of paperwork to proper folder.
  • Print ‘labels’ – see manual.
  • Maintain documentation of projects by updating work order.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor software.
  • Minimum 1-year previous experience generating material take-offs, run tickets, and bills of material.
  • Previous experience working in millwork shop is preferred.
  • Ability to understand other building industry disciplines.
  • Ability to read blueprints and architectural drawings required.
  • Ability to keep current on contemporary materials and processes.
  • Working knowledge of custom millwork fabrication and subcontracting practices within the construction industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Shop floor experience required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of optimization software – changing to ARDIS.
